Terms of use and sale

1. Purpose

These terms govern the use of the Meepla site, a personal board game collection management service offering, in particular, two smart assistants, the Referee and Marco, available for free within a monthly usage limit, and with a higher limit through the Meepla Premium subscription.

2. Account creation

Access to the site's features requires creating an account with an email, a username and a password. Users agree to provide accurate information and to keep their login details confidential.

3. Description of the service

Meepla lets you catalogue your board games, keep a wishlist, organize game nights with your friends and keep the history of your plays. The Referee explains the rules, helps you pick a game and manage your collection; Marco keeps score and records plays. Both assistants are available to any user with an account, within the limits described in article 5.

4. Meepla Premium subscription

The Meepla Premium subscription is a paid subscription, billed monthly, at €2.40 incl. tax per month through our payment provider Stripe. It lifts the free plan's limits (games added or completed by the Referee, plays recorded by Marco, game nights organized) and gives access to a higher monthly usage limit for the assistants (see article 5). It renews automatically until the user cancels it, which is possible at any time from the “My account” page.

5. Usage limits

Without a subscription, the Referee can add or complete 5 games a month, Marco can record 1 play a month and 1 game night can be organized a month; adding games by hand remains unlimited. In addition, use of the assistants is subject to a monthly limit, calculated from the cost of the resources used by each request (artificial intelligence processing, web searches). This limit is higher for subscribers than for free accounts. The share already used is shown as a percentage above the assistants and on the “My account” page. When a limit is reached, including during a request, which may then be interrupted, the feature concerned is no longer available until the 1st day of the following month (midnight UTC), when the limits are reset. Unused allowance does not carry over to the following month, and deleting a game or recreating your account does not give back credits already used. The assistants handle only one request at a time per user. Any circumvention of these limits, in particular by creating multiple accounts, is prohibited and may lead to the account being suspended. The publisher may change these limits; any change will be brought to users' attention on the site.

6. Right of withdrawal

In accordance with article L221-18 of the French Consumer Code, you have 14 days to exercise your right of withdrawal. By subscribing to Meepla Premium, you expressly request immediate performance of the service and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal as soon as the digital service has begun to be provided.

7. Termination

Users can delete their account at any time from the “My account” page (see the “Account deletion” page). This action is immediate and irreversible and results in the deletion of the associated data, as well as the cancellation of any ongoing subscription.

8. Intellectual property

Content added by users (collection, house rules, scores) belongs to them. The Meepla brand, its logo, its mascot and the site's code remain the exclusive property of its publisher. Game information and images from BoardGameGeek remain the property of their respective owners.

9. Liability

Meepla does its utmost to ensure the availability and security of the service, without guaranteeing uninterrupted operation. The assistants' answers, in particular rule explanations and score calculations, are provided for information only. The publisher cannot be held liable for any temporary interruption of the service or loss of data resulting from force majeure.

10. Applicable law

These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, the French courts shall have sole jurisdiction.
